2019 International WFTDA Playoffs and Championships Host Application
The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) is seeking venues or entities that are interested in partnering with us to host the 2019 International WFTDA Playoffs and Championships. There are several opportunities to host WFTDA tournaments.
WFTDA Playoffs take place between September 1 and early October. The WFTDA International Championships event in November features the top teams from Playoffs, who compete for roller derby’s top honor, the Hydra.
The WFTDA Playoffs and Championships are held in venues such as sports arenas, hockey rinks, warehouses and convention centers that can accommodate 800-8,000 spectators, with Championships being the most attended event. An ideal venue has competition track, tiered seating, multiple dressing rooms and space for a vendor area. The skating surface must be suitable, smooth, flat and obstruction-free (no pillars) with a surface of at least 115 ft by 88 ft for the competition track.
Although bids from non-WFTDA organizations and leagues are accepted, it takes a tremendous amount of volunteer hours to put these tournaments on. Support from a local WFTDA-member or apprentice league is a key part of any bid.
The deadline for the application to host is Monday, July 30, 2018.
New this year the WFTDA has moved to an online bid submission process. This makes it easier for members and interested parties to apply to host an event in their area. Please review our 2019 WFTDA Tournament Bid Application Content and Overview package to gather all the information required for the online submission. It is advised that interested parties gather this information first before attempting to complete the online bid.
