The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) seeks a Director of Broadcast Operations, for a full-time position starting May 1, 2014. The Director of Broadcast Operations manages the WFTDA.tv operations, including live online broadcast, archives, and video assets management.
Director of Broadcast is responsible for planning, facilitation, and operations, in order to:
Develop and implement strategy for WFTDA.tv, which contributes to WFTDA’s mission, values, goals, and strategic position.
Manage operations and interactions in the broadcast program, to ensure smooth, sustainable, well-presented broadcasts and function.
Maintain and grow broadcast viewership through excellence in production and the development of additional content and partners;
Develop the broadcast program into a financially well-balanced and sustainable program for the WFTDA.
The ideal candidate is savvy in mass communications, and a talented team leader and project manager. You’re comfortable with a rapidly changing context and do well with creating programs from scratch. You’re interested in new trends in broadcast, internet streaming, and media. You have a clear and articulate vision for how WFTDA.tv serves the WFTDA mission.
The creation of this staff position represents a transition from using volunteers into supporting paid staff to oversee the project on a daily basis. We are looking for someone who can execute the program as it is already underway, while planning and leading in new directions for a stable, growing future. The ideal candidate will need to utilize industry-relevant professional skills and experience, and will benefit greatly from a knowledge of the field-- but will also rely on flexibility, intuition, effectiveness, and charisma to lead the program through transition.
