2026 WFTDA Global Championships Host Announced, Hosting Application for Regionals Now Open
The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) is pleased to announce that Crime City Rollers will be hosting the 2026 WFTDA Global Championships, October 15-18, 2026 in Malmö, Sweden. Not only is this the first WFTDA Global Championship tournament to be held in Europe, but it is the first four-day championship, allowing for more games and more participating teams from around the world. WFTDA and Crime City are excited to welcome you to Sweden!
WFTDA has opened host bids for the 2026 Regional Championships, and for two Geographically Unrestricted Region (GUR) invitationals we hope to run in 2025. League reps should check the Online Community for the application, or email games@wftda.com.
WFTDA’s competitive system and tournament structure were updated in 2023, upon returning to sanctioned play after putting competition on hold in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The new system divides Member Leagues into regions to compete toward Regional Championship tournaments that seed teams into a Global Championship tournament, which occur every two years.
