WFTDA New Member Program and Application Information
for Roller Derby Leagues

Members of the WFTDA receive many benefits, including:

  • Participation in WFTDA competitive structures and WFTDA Rankings.
    • One charter team is included in the annual membership with an additional charge for additional teams.
  • Voting privileges on WFTDA elections, policies, rules, and other issues that affect the sport of roller derby.
  • Access to the WFTDA member forum to communicate with WFTDA member leagues and WFTDA leadership.
  • Access to the WFTDA Online Learning site.
  • Member pricing on WFTDA Insurance products.

In order to apply to be a member of the WFTDA, roller derby leagues must meet the following requirements:

  • Managed by at least 67% league participants who identify as women or gender expansive, as detailed in the WFTDA Gender Statement.
  • 51% owned by league participants who identify as women or gender expansive, as detailed in the WFTDA Gender Statement.
  • Governed by democratic principles and practices.
  • Competitors must play by The Rules of Flat Track Roller Derby.
  • Any charter team participating in WFTDA competition must include only skaters who identify as women or gender expansive, as detailed in the WFTDA Gender Statement.

Applications will be reviewed quarterly.

All materials are due on the last day of the quarter, and a decision will be delivered to the potential member during the following month.

*Please give WFTDA Membership a couple of weeks to review materials. WFTDA will announce new members on WFTDA.com. Once members are admitted, they will need to play a seeding game to get an initial strength factor before they play sanctioned games.

Leagues joining WFTDA in July and September will pay the full annual membership dues, while those joining in January and April will pay 50% prorated dues. Leagues in regions experiencing economic hardship qualify for financial assistance.
