Roller Derby Madrid was born in 2012 following the fusion of two teams that had existed since 2011 who were determined to bring the wonderful sport of roller derby to their city. Their logo, a cat, refers to the nickname given to people from Madrid, who were said to be quick and agile as cats and skilled at climbing walls during the times of Spain’s the Spanish Reconquest: an accurate description of RDM’s skaters, although they prefer to build strong walls than climb them!

The league aims to continue the legacy of this self-governed sport that has extended worldwide thanks to thousands of strong, brave, intelligent women.
