WFTDA Rules Committee Releases Rules Errata, New Scenarios

The WFTDA Rules Committee released an update to rules.wftda.com to incorporate rules errata and new scenarios. The following changes have been made:

Errata

The following errata are designated via a footnote system:

Rule
Errata Description
1.3.1 A sentence was added to the rules to clarify that penalized Captains or Designated Alternates could not request Team Timeouts.
1.3.2 A sentence was added to the rules to clarify that penalized Captains or Designated Alternates could not request Official Reviews
2.2 The term “Player” has been changed to “Skater” for consistency of terminology.
2.2.1 Updates were made to the rules to clarify that a Jammer must be in visible possession of the Jammer helmet cover at the start of the Jam.#72
2.2.4 The term “scoring passes” has been changed to “trips through the pack” to better match 2017 terminology.
4.2.3 The example included in the rule was removed as it introduced unintended and adverse consequences to the interpretation of related rules.

 

In addition to the errata:

  • Updated Blocking and Target Zone graphics were added for clarity;
  • A link was added for Appendix A – Track Specifications; and
  • A glossary entry was added for Leaving the Track.

New and Edited Scenarios

The following new content was added on the 2017 Scenarios page. To access the new page, go to Rules and then select 2017 scenarios from the drop-down menu.

Rule 4.1.3 Two new scenarios have been written regarding engagement outside of a Jam.
Rule 4.2.1 Three new scenarios have been written regarding exiting the track.
Rule 4.24 Scenario C4.56 has been re-written to clarify when illegally entering the Penalty Box should be penalized.
Rule 4.3 A new scenario has been written regarding intentionally falling on an opponent.
Rule 4.3 Two new scenarios have been written regarding initiating while airborne.
Rule 4.4 Two new scenarios have been written regarding leaving the track for penalty enforcement.
Rule 5.4 Three new scenarios have been written regarding insubordination.
