Windy City Rollers (Seed #9, WFTDA #25) vs. Rat City Roller Derby (Seed #8, WFTDA #20)
171
265
A game between two closely seeded teams finished with a large point differential as Rat City Roller Derby of Seattle, Washington, U.S. defeated the Windy City Rollers of Chicago, Illinois, U.S. by a final of 265-171 at the 2018 International WFTDA Playoffs Atlanta.
I’ve called a bunch of @windycityroller games in the past couple of years. One of my favorites to call. They’re a seriously tough team. @RCRG very balanced all around, very dangerous when they can put foot to the pedal. #talk2wftda pic.twitter.com/NCA5iTdXlp

Rat City controlled the lead from the third jam in this opening playoff matchup for both teams. Jammer Alyssa Pray put up 38 points in her first two turns with the star, while teammate Littlefield posted a 24-point jam to help the Seattle squad on a 43-4 run early in the half. Windy City managed to slow the onslaught following a timeout, but couldn’t put up enough points per jam to impact the deficit.
I’m so stoked to see my former Tampa teammate Littlefield (Little A) jamming for Seattle!! I’ve always loved watching A jam, and missed her fancy footwork the last few years as a blocker #wftdaplayoffs #wftdATL #talk2wftda #rollerderby

While Rat City’s jammers had no trouble scoring points in the first half, they did struggle with a 33 percent lead jammer status and penalties. But Seattle’s defense was ready with the power jam kills, led by blockers Carmen Getsome and CeeCee. Rat City took a 114-76 lead into halftime.
Rat City maintained a solid distance in the second half, never letting Windy City come closer than 35 points. Seattle jammers continued to have penalty trouble, and Chicago did capitalize on power jams while creating no such opportunities for Seattle. Windy City’s defense just couldn’t contain the point scoring however, and Alyssa Pray finished out the game with a last jam of 28 points to widen the lead.
Seattle jammer Littlefield led all scorers with 93 points, while Alyssa Pray had 78 and A. Green had 73. Rat City was led defensively by Carmen Getsome, CeeCee, R. Rickel, Thumper Skull and Red deVicious.
For Chicago, Isabel Allend-ya posted a team-high 52 points, while Ashley Perrin had 41 and Mia Go Hamm had 28. Team captain Shake N Bake provided a spark in the jammer rotation with 21 points. Windy City’s defense was led by Regina SP.E.C.T.R.E., Suga Smaxxx, Phoebe Fi Fo Fum and Kate N. Destroy.
Rat City advances to play top-seeded Texas Rollergirls of Austin, Texas, U.S. (Seed #1, WFTDA #6), and feels ready to face a second game in just a few hours.
“I feel like as a derby community people are used to playing two games in one day, and I don’t think it will be a problem at all,” jammer Littlefield told WFTDA.tv after the first game.
Fun game. @RCRG locking it down in the second half and fighting off a very game @windycityroller team to take the win & face @TXRollergirls later tonight another chapter of that rivalry. #Talk2WFTDA
