Avas Roller Derby

Launched in 2018 in the city of Rio de Janeiro, the Avas Roller Derby sports league was born with the goal of promoting Roller Derby in Brazil and developing the competitive spirit of this sport, which is still in a growth phase in the country. Inspired by the best teams in the world that participate and compete in major international Roller Derby championships, the Avas league from Rio has in its DNA a thirst for collective growth, teamwork, and great determination.

Created by 4 independent, feminist and strong women, the league carries with it an identity and culture built from the perspective of female empowerment and the fight for gender equality. After realizing that only a group working together and focusing entirely on collective growth would be capable of gaining strength and reaching a high level in national derby, the athletes united to practice their passion and brought Avas to life.
