The 2019 WFTDA Continental Cups are hosted by WFTDA-member leagues in August and October of 2019. For more information on the Continental Cups read our Latest News.

The 2019 International WFTDA tournament season includes 2 Playoffs locations in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Seattle, Washington in September and Championships; November 15-17 in Montréal, Québec, Canada. For information on the 2019 WFTDA tournament schedule visit Tournament Central.

The eligibility requirements (below) for Tournament Officials have been updated for 2019:

  • Eligibility will be determined from the date applications close.
  • Sanctioned and/or regulation games in the last 24 months are considered for eligibility.
  • Please note, applications require the WFTDA Officiating History Document (OHD) or the most current version of the Games History Document.
  • Those that did not work Continental Cups or Playoffs and Championships last year will have preferential consideration.
  • Certification is not required for 2019 applications.
  • Playoffs are now limited to one.
  • Anyone selected for a WFTDA-Recognized Tournament, Continental Cup, Playoffs or Championships in the past 2 years, may apply for Championships.

Minimum Eligibility and Qualifications for Playoffs Selections

  1. Officials are expected to only apply to tournaments that they intend to attend. Eligibility will be determined from the date applications close and not the date an official applies.
  2. The Tournament Officials Selection Panel (TOSP) may remove individuals from the candidate pool who are found to have violated the WFTDA Code of Conduct. This may be verified by having a processed or pending WFTDA grievance, having a documented pattern of behavior unbecoming of a WFTDA Official, or having an excessive history of being replaced during WFTDA tournaments. Applicants can be removed for these reasons, or those of similar severity, even if they meet published eligibility requirements for Playoff consideration.
  3. Game number requirements listed below are understood to be in the same designation. If applying for Skating Official, the Official must complete this number as a Skating Official. If applying as a Non-Skating Official, they must complete this number as a Non-Skating Official.

Crew Head Official (CHO)

Championships

  1. Must have performed as a Tournament Head Official (THO), Crew Head Official (CHO), or Official in at least one WFTDA-Recognized Event, Continental Cup, Playoffs or Championships in the past 2 years.
  2. Must have performed in at least 22 WFTDA-sanctioned and/or regulation or MRDA-sanctioned games in the last 24 months from date of application close.
  3. 6 games of the 22 must be sanctioned.

Playoffs

  1. Must have performed as a THO, CHO, or Official in at least one WFTDA-Recognized Event, Continental Cup, Playoffs or Championships in the past 2 years.
  2. Must have performed in at least 15 WFTDA-sanctioned and/or regulation or MRDA-sanctioned games in the last 24 months from date of application close.
  3. 3 games of the 15 must be sanctioned.

Continental Cups

  1. Must have performed as a THO, CHO, or Official in at least one WFTDA-Recognized Event, Continental Cup, Playoffs or Championships in the past 2 years.
  2. Must have performed in at least 12 WFTDA-Sanctioned and/or Regulation or MRDA-Sanctioned games in the last 24 months from date of application close.

Participating Official

Championships

  1. Must have performed as an Official or THO in at least one WFTDA-Recognized Event, Continental Cup, Playoffs or Championships in the past 2 years.
  2. Must have performed as an Official in at least 22 WFTDA-sanctioned and/or regulation or MRDA-sanctioned games in the last 24 months from date of application close.
  3. 6 games of the 22 must be sanctioned.
  4. Must have performed in the positional family (Non-Skating Officials) or role (Skating Officials) applied for in at least 12 WFTDA-sanctioned and/or regulation or MRDA-sanctioned games in the last 24 months from the date of application close. Positional Families as of the time of this release, March 2019.

Playoffs

  1. Must have performed as an Official in at least 15 WFTDA-sanctioned/regulation or MRDA-sanctioned games in the last 24 months from date of application close.
  2. 3 games of the 15 must be sanctioned.
  3. Must have performed in the positional family (NSOs) or role (SOs) applied for in at least 8 WFTDA-sanctioned and/or regulation or MRDA-sanctioned games in the last 24 months from the date of application close. Positional Families as of the time of this release, March 2019.

Continental Cups

  1. Must have performed as an Official in at least 12 WFTDA-sanctioned and/or regulation or MRDA-sanctioned games in the last 24 months from date of application close.
  2. Must have performed in the positional family (NSOs) or role (SOs) applied for in at least 6 WFTDA-sanctioned and/or regulation or MRDA-sanctioned games in the last 24 months from the date of application close. Positional Families as of the time of this release, March 2019.
  3. Recommended experience for Officials: It is strongly recommended that Officials have prior experience with teams at comparable ranking to the competing teams.

Additional Information and Allowances

  1. Individuals who do not meet the requirement for the minimum number of games officiated due to the geographic accessibility to sanctioned games or due to injury may be considered. This must be clearly noted on your application.
  2. If there is a lack of applicants meeting any of these qualifications, TOSP reserves the right to amend/alter the requirements until there are sufficient resources.
  3. For the purposes of eligibility, Crew Head Referee/Head Referee roles count towards Inside Pack Referee eligibility. However, the opposite is not true.
  4. Alternate Official positions do not count towards minimum game requirements.

2019 WFTDA Tournament (Cups, Playoffs and Championships) Officiating Application

In order to apply to perform as an Official in the 2019 WFTDA Tournament Cycle, this form must be submitted no later than May 6th 2019. This application covers Continental Cups, Playoffs, and Championships.

Please read each application question carefully to ensure that your application and Officiating History document are submitted properly. Failure to follow these instructions could result in disqualification.
